Spring Rejuvenation with a Detoxifying Massage!

Hi welcome to Yarrow and You Therapeutic Bodywork Blog! My name is Heather and…

I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist and Bodyworker for over 12 years. My office is located in the historical district of downtown Aurora, Oregon. Sharing some of what I have learned over the years through research, mentors, continuing education classes and my own healing journey is just another layer of how I can help people get in tune with their body understand what it needs.

Spring is a perfect, if not crucial time, to detoxify!

As winter melts away and vibrant new colors and buds emerge, baby birds crack out their shells and sprouts pop up out of the ground– our bodies naturally want to slough off anything they do not need as well— a need for rejuvenation and renewal!. During the sluggish winter months, our bodies tend to hang on to fat and anything extra to help us survive these months when food was typically scarce.

In modern times most of us have plenty to eat and during dreary rainy or snowy colder weather we usually move our bodies less as well. Lymph moves with muscle movement. Coupled with the inherent wisdom of the body to “keep what we have, in case we face starvation,” and the fact that we might be more sedentary in winter, our lymphatic system can become stagnant.

One way to kickstart the lymph to move is to get a massage!

Therapeutic massage and bodywork help move the lymph and blood, getting fresh oxygen and nutrients into the tissues while helping to squeeze metabolic waste and toxins out of the tissues. Drinking plenty of water and even some herbal teas before and after a massage is extremely important with helping to clear out the waste and feel better.

So Spring has arrived! Drink more water, schedule a therapeutic massage,

move your body, eat fresh leafy vegetables, like nettle tops and dandelion greens to help the liver detoxify this time of year as well. Book a massage at Yarrow and You Therapeutic Bodywork where we always discuss what you need at the time of the appointment. I specialize in massage, cupping therapy, myofascial/structural bodywork, and cranialsacral therapy. Let’s get rejuvenated with the power of massage!
