Helpful Resources for Self-Care

Shoes Matter!

Your feet are a critical component of whole-body health. Shoes have a tremendous effect on your body. Most conventional shoes are causing more harm than good (even though some of them are so darn cute!) Think about transitioning to foot-healthy shoes, your body will thank you for it!

AnyasReviews.com has great layperson information about foot health and she reviews all the styles.

NutritiousMovement.com (Katy Bowman) is also a foot expert.

Precision Movement/ROM COACH

Coach Eric Wong(kinesiologist) and Dr Erin Boynton (surgeon) show how to heal injuries and keep our bodies strengthened and conditioned.

If you have an injury, I recommend looking here for exercises you learn to do yourself.

ROM COACH app $10/month

$10/month is a pretty darn good deal to start with if you don’t have access to a PT or Kinesiologist to help you recover from injury.

A Dynamic Workstation

There is no perfect chair or perfect way of sitting. The body needs movement. Change your body positioning often. Avoid being sedentary (being in the same position for long periods of time).

Hanging is a natural movement we need for healthy and strong spine, neck, shoulders, and whole body.

If you have a shoulder, hand, or wrist injury be cautious and listen to your body.

How to make a Flower Remedy dose bottle.

You can buy flower remedy stock bottles from the companies mentioned in the section above. There are also other companies and you can learn to make your own. To get started I often recommend going to the local natural foods store where they often carry the Bach Flower Remedies.  Read the descriptions and pick 1 remedy (or up to 3) to work with at one time–whichever one resonates with how you feel. These are self-help–no one can tell you which one to get–you choose. Buy a small 1-ounce dropper bottle (or sterilize and reuse one you may have at home.)
Fill the dropper bottle with water just below “the shoulder,” leaving enough room to add  1- 2 dropperfuls of brandy, or apple cider vinegar used as a preservative. I like to succuss/shake the stock bottle by tapping it on my hand a few times to energize the medicine but it’s not needed. Then place 5 drops of the flower remedy into the dropper bottle, close it up and label it. Label it. Put the stock bottle in your medicine cabinet and then the dose bottle is yours to use and carry with you. This method makes the stock last longer but you can use the remedy straight if you prefer, either way, works equally well. Keep the dose bottle with you during the day and take 4 drops at least 4 times per day in your mouth. You can also put the drops in your water bottle. By using this subtle but powerful plant medicine you may have insights, dreams, or physical changes, and new realizations may come. The flower remedies/plants will work with you uniquely. You will know when you no longer need the medicine. I call on different remedies at different times as I need them. Flower Remedies have no side effects, do not interfere with any medication, and are safe for everyone: children, pets, and even plants. They are pure magic! Have fun with them.
